HAPPY SPRING!! This morning I walked outside, and guess what I heard... BIRDS! SINGING! YES - BIRDS! If I hadn't been worried that the neighbors would think me even crazier (quit laughing), I would have thrown my arms open wide and hollered, "Thank you, GOD!" Spring is on the way for those in this hemisphere... That means that very soon we'll be scrapping those Easter egg hunts, new flowers, bike rides (and associated cuts and scrapes), and all those fun springtime activities. What joy springtime brings; I can't WAIT to get outside with my camera! |

I love the sense of renewal that comes with the spring. The feeling that everything is fresh, and we're starting over with a brand new chance to really get it all right. And I can't help (yeah, the psychoanalyst in me) applying that thought to my own life, and specifically to my scrapbooking. Right now there are three half-finished albums sitting in my family room bookcase. They're being dust-collectors instead of mementos of my love for my kids because I have this paralyzing need to have every detail be perfect. And that's not only impossible, it's plain silly! Surely, not everyone has the same hang-up as me (all perfectionists, raise your hand!), but we all have them. What's holding you back? We have such an amazing resource in DSP - I just know that you could find whatever you might need for getting past whatever scrapping holdups you might have. Whether it's learning to use a graphics program in one of the basic DSU classes, honing your skill as a photographer, or learning a specific technique in a more advanced class, I just know you'll find something in the university. Have you seen all the fresh new products in the store?! Kits, WordArt, Ploppers, Overlays, and you name it. Wow is just about all I can think to say. And the gallery... Simply inspiring! So, come and be inspired right now to clean out all those mental cobwebs. I can't wait to see what springs forth! Suzanne

March 1st is Share-a-Smile Day
Let's spread the sunshine of a warm smile...Create a layout showcasing your favorite smile or smiles. Post to the Smile Layout Challenge Gallery by March 25th for your chance to win a prize.
Rules: You can create your layout any way you like, but it must include a photo of a smile.
Challenge will run March 1 to March 25th with prizes awarded on March 28th.
Scrapper's Challenge

Last month we organized our elements. This month we'll
tackle our fonts. I can easily spend hours wandering the internet, downloading
new, fun fonts. The challenge comes in finding the right font quickly
for the right layout,
and knowing which designer to credit.

What a great month we had in February. We added 3 new classes and all got off to a great start! Those classes are being offered again along with other DSU classes. We also have added a self-paced course for DSU211/311 for Photoshop Creating Elements.
DSU211/311-
Photoshop: Creating Digital Elements for Beginners and Advanced
Users (self-paced) $60
This class includes notes for both dsu 211 and dsu 311. It will
suit those who want to work at an individual pace and perhaps
not need to wait a week to finish a lesson, or those who wish
to take longer than a week to complete a lesson. There are
8 lessons which may be completed at your leisure. There
will be no chat times for this class but there will be a forum
and you will have email access to the instructor. Once you have
finished your lesson you only need email the instructor for the
next. Instructor Lauren Bavin.
