Happy 1^st Birthday Digital Scrapbook Place!!!

I remember April 1^st 2004 like it was yesterday.  The computer-scrapbooking yahoo board was a buzz with hints of something big that was about to happen.  Margie was sending hints through the group but no-one knew what was about to happen.  But we all knew that if Margie was involved it would be fun.   Then on April 1^st, the doors to DSP flew open and a new and wonderful Digital Scrapbooking Site was born.

I was so excited; a University was opened and it even had its own Dean of Students.  Digital scrappers now had a place to take classes and learn techniques on how to digital scrapbook!!  New members were signing up so fast, I was the 127^th member, and now one year later DSP has more than 12,000 members.  Now that is growth!!!  It is hard to find an internet site that offers more digital scrapbooking tutorials and helpful members.  And a fun atmosphere to share ideas and post layouts and not feel embarrassed to ask for help.   As you can tell I am very partial to DSP.  Many DSP members call it their home away from home.  My family knows where I can be found when I am not at work or taking care of my parenting responsibilities.  My virtual family at DSP and my family at home all support my hobby and understand how important it is to me to document our journeys of life.  But we all have to remember to take care of our important real-life priorities before we can indulge in this wonderful hobby.  It is important to make sure our families needs are met; clean home, clean clothes, food in the refrigerator, etc., then we can start clicking and scrapping.  If these needs are not met you may have Amanda coming to your house for an inspection, (you can ask Margie about this.) Amanda is the organizer of DSP and we can thank her for all the behind the scenes house cleaning and organization that makes DSP run smoothly.  You could not ask for a better combination of skills with the DSP founders, Margie and Amanda, I call it “organized-fun”. 

The word I would like to leave with you today is “praise”.  We all love praise, our kids, our husbands or wives, our pets.  There is nothing that feels more wonderful that a virtual pat on the back.   So my tip/suggestion of the month is to try and make at least 3 or 4 comments on the layouts in the gallery before uploading yours.  Make someone’s day, give them a pat on the back.  Keep DSP the friendliest place on the internet.  Now, let’s go and have some organized-fun!!!!
