Letter from Team Digital 

Happy July to all!!! It’s time to start on the second half of the year. The summer solstice has just passed so the sun in starting to march it’s way slowly to the south again. To me, this is a time to just take a moment to pause, to get ready for the change in direction the second half of the year will bring. The winter solstice and that busy December Holiday season will be here sooner than we think, so this is the time I start to think about what gifts I want to give this year. It’s time to take a look at what scrapping projects need to come to the forefront and figure out a plan to get them going. This past May, my parents celebrated their 50th anniversary which got me started on their story. I asked them to help with this

project – scanning in a few pictures at a time, and getting them to tell the stories behind them. It’s been so fun for all of us, that I want to continue getting to know my parents better through listening to their memories. But without a pressing deadline, I can already see it needs a structure of its own so it doesn’t get lost in the hustle and bustle of life. I also need to get a good start on my in-laws stories as well as their 50th will be upon us next spring. These are gifts I not only can give, but also can receive. And I think that’s one thing that so draws me to scrapping – and especially digitally because it’s so easy to share pages and make copies of scrapbooks. I host the ‘Book of Me’ challenge here at DSP that can help with unlocking those memories with memory jogs – things that can help get the cobwebs off the memories as well as breaking it down the story of a life into manageable chunks. It’s sort of how Dumbledore pulls a strand of a memory out with his wand and places it into his penseive. One strand at a time. We muggles just do it through our scrapping. One page at a time. If you need some inspiration to start getting the stories told that need to be told – take a peek at the Book of Me threads. The work is phenomenal and always blows me away! I’m certain you’ll find inspiration there. My signature here at DSP has the quote from a song that is dear to my heart. “Life is just a collection of memories…and memories are like starlight – they go on, forever.” One memory leads to another, which leads to yet another. And they do seem to go on – forever. And your story, your memories will go on forever, through generations – through your scrapping. NKOTB5 - New Kids On The Block Challenge

What's NKOTB? It's a contest for folks new to DSP and digital scrapping. Each week for three weeks we post a challenge. You create a layout, post it in the NKOTB gallery, and Team Digital, your fellow contestants, and other DSP members offer comments and suggestions. You can re-work your layout as many times as you like until the end of the week. Then the layouts are judged by our designers, moderators, and advanced scrappers. There are prizes each week, as well as prizes for various other challenges along the way.

We'll be taking sign-ups beginning Friday July 14th and posting more details in the forums, but wanted to give everyone a head's-up that we'll be starting Monday July 31st and running three weekly challenges.

Guidelines for Entrants
1. NEVER won a prize or challenge (random drawings and prizes for answering questions in chat don't count.)
2. NEVER been published.
3. Gallery with under 50 layouts (layouts made for classes don't count.)
